Yesterday was the day where the next round of drama war kicks off with the debut of KBS “Love Marriage” and a special episode of MBC “East of Eden”. But both seemed to fumble in the presence of the reigning champion “Gourmet”.
According to TNS Media Korea, the first episode of “Love Marriage” only scrapped a 6.4%, edging the special episode of “East of Eden” by 0.2% while “Gourmet” is still leading with a huge 23.3% in comparison. The rating of “Love Marriage” is inconsistent with the reviews however, with many netizens storming the net after the broadcast and giving rave reviews about the drama, especially towards Kim Min Hee’s role.
Netizens wrote, “Kim Min Hee’s acting is too eye-catching”, “Kim Min Hee’s charm is revived in ‘Love Marriage’”, “Kim Min Hee leaves me a deep impression even though she plays a comedic role this time instead of her usual cute character”.
Among all, what is probably the most disappointing to me is the viewership rating of “East of Eden” special episode. Only a 6.2% for a mega-production that gathers 6 top stars? Of course, a special episode is usually low, but still, I didn’t expect it to be this low for “East of Eden”. Going for 2 episodes back-to-back today, we can probably expect its ratings to jump above 10% at least?
